Quality control includes design quality control, process quality control, and total quality control. What is design quality control and how to complete it? Let’s understand what are the objects it working on and the process of design quality control.
What is Design Quality Control?
Design control is a management behavior that analyzes, processes, judges, decides, and modifies the whole technical operation process of design for the purpose of ensuring that the design results meet the needs of human society. Design quality control should run through the whole process of design quality formation, and the object of design quality control in the design process.
What is Design Quality?
Design quality refers to the quality grade or quality level of the required design determined according to the user’s use purpose, economic status, and internal conditions of the enterprise. It reflects the degree of perfection of design objectives, expressed in various specifications and standards.
Design quality includes three basic processes:
- Define what constitutes the applicability of users. This process is also known as market research quality. The design objectives should be determined through the information obtained from market research.
- Selecting the concept of product or service to reflect the user needs to be determined by market research. The result of this step is called conception quality or concept quality, that is, conceiving the product to improve the design purpose and strive to adapt the expected quality characteristics to the actual needs of the market.
- Translate the selected product concept into detailed product specifications. The result of this process is also called specification quality, that is, the degree to which the actual design specification meets the needs of the applicability level.
The Object of Design Quality Control
The quality in the process of product design includes two aspects: one is the product quality, and the other is the work quality in the process of product design. Among them, product quality is the core, and work quality is the guarantee of design quality. The quality control of the design process is to achieve the comprehensive purpose of improving the design quality by improving the quality of these two aspects. In terms of product quality, in addition to the applicability requirements of customers, we should also fully consider the feasibility of production and manufacturing, such as the process of product structure, standardization level, production efficiency, and other factors. In the previous section, the quality influencing factors in the design process are analyzed from five aspects: human, machine, material, method, and environment. Among them, the “environment” factor has been greatly improved in modern enterprises and is no longer the main influencing factor. Therefore, the objects to be controlled in design quality control mainly include four aspects, which are summarized as follows:
1) Designers assign design tasks to designers, supervise and urge the completion of designers’ tasks, and promote the improvement of designers’ comprehensive quality.
2) The control of the design process and the management of the design process should control the design process to ensure product quality.
3) Design information refers to various file information generated in the design process, which is divided into two categories: text document and data file. Text documents include: design assignment, contract text, technical agreement, development plan, quality plan, review records, etc; Data files include: renderings, pictures, 3D data, etc.
4) The design method selects the effective design method suitable for the needs of enterprises.
Contents & Process of Design Quality Control
The process of product design and development is an innovative process. The quality function of this process is reflected in two aspects: one is to ensure that the product quality meets the needs of users; The second is to meet the requirements of subsequent production and processing. According to the quality functions of these two aspects and the requirements of ISO9000 system standards, the quality management and control of the product design process shall include the following contents:
1) Conduct market research and determine product quality requirements;
2) Pay attention to design decision-making, select reasonable development and design methods, that is, establish scientific and reasonable design and development process, and select advanced design tools and quality design technology;
3) Strictly follow the general laws of product development and design, and scientifically and reasonably arrange the tasks and responsibilities of each design stage;
4) Do a good job in design quality planning;
5) In the design process, it is supplemented by design analysis;
6) Pay attention to design review and overcome design defects through early alarm;
7) Organize the trial production, test, and identification of products to carry out reliable design verification and confirmation.
8) Pay attention to the continuous improvement of design quality, record and make statistical analysis of quality problems, and promote the improvement of design.
