The machine is equipped with a laser and milling machine, and I would work with wood and plexiglass. I’m going to cut some of the most basic shapes: circle, square, rectangle. I’m not going to do some more complicated cutting and carving as we do handicrafts so we don’t want to bounce too much from previous work, it’s more about making the cnc steak the basis for further work.

I won’t deny that. I used to do design work for a company that made the foam inserts for airline seats. We did all kinds of different methods from sawn foam to hot-wire to CNC-cut and everything in between.

Not saying it would be easy or anything, but I’m always looking for some way to do more myself as opposed to clicking on “Buy it now”. But the more I look at these cheap CNC, I’m not sure they’d be up to the job, and I don’t have the coin for anything more major yet.

Polycarbonate maybe. Perfectly machinable, available from black, milky white up yo fully transparent, flexible and pretty cheap of we’re talking about 1-2mm sheets.
